The biggest misconception when it comes to AI is that it can do anything and everything. The promised land of what they call as AGI or ASI, which is like an AI that will become a human or a superhuman—smarter than the smartest human. Those are promises. For now, we are not there.
There are two schools of thought, it'll get here, it's already here, it'll get there in 2027—whatever.What that means is AI is not yet a magic wand. You have to use AI for specific things.Yes, it is more generic than it used to be, but it is not like you can use it for anything.
One of the other big perceptions that I see is, if something is not working today with humans doing it, an AI is not going to make it better.A good example is, if your SDR team is not working—let's say you have a four-person SDR team—now you're like, "I'm going to buy an AI SDR and that's going to magically work." Not happening. If your humans are not being productive, if they are not able to generate the leads for you, how do you think that doing more of something that is not working—and that too in an inferior way—is going to work? It's not going to work.
But, for example, software programming will work.If ten of your developers are developing code, and you bring in AI, introducing 30% efficiency, now you have the equivalent of thirteen developers. That will work because the core of software development is functioning.
SDRing is not working, so don't throw AI at it and magically think that it'll suddenly happen. Right? Not happening.
